For any of you in the New River Valley looking for something to do this weekend, consider coming out to the Blacksburg Square Dance on Saturday night. If you’ve never been to a square dance, this is a great place to start. There is a lesson for beginners at 7:30, and the dance itself goes from 8-11. The caller for this dance is a great North Carolina caller named Nancy Mamlin, and the band is THE JUGBUSTERS. No partner and no experience necessary. Needless to say, this is a lot more fun than what some of you may remember from gym class in junior high school…

The dance is at Gilbert Linkous Elementary School on Tom’s Creek Road. Be there and be square!

We’ll also be playing at the Franklin County Parks and Rec Center in Rocky Mount on Sunday from 1-2pm. So if you don’t get enough at the square dance on Saturday, you get another chance on Sunday.
